Miami man charged with shooting couple

Mr. Padilla was part of the legal defense of Mr. Ramirez.

Mr. Padilla was responsible of handling all forensic experts and evidence. He handled the cross examination of Dr. Lew as well as the state’s fingerprint expert. Additionally Mr. Padilla cross examined the Metro PCS custodian regarding cellular phone issues. After two days of deliberation the jury was unable to reach a verdict resulting in a hung jury.

The case is set for retrial April 18 2016.

Mr. Ramirez was charged with shooting a couple after an argument with the victims.

Emin Joel Rosales Ramirez. He is charged with attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

The shooting happened at Northwest 52nd Street and 23rd Avenue

The victims, a husband and wife, were driving southbound on 23rd Avenue when allegedly Rosales Ramirez blocked their path by crossing in front of their vehicle, said Miami-Dade police. Rosales Ramirez and the driver got into an argument, and then allegedly Rosales Ramirez shot at the victims several times.

The victims were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital and listed in critical condition.
